A city for everyone, a city on the move, and a city with drive and community

Aarhus is facing a broad number of challenges: Smaller public budgets, greater citizen expectations, rapid city growth, increased traffic, pollution, flooding risks, weakened social cohesion and human relations, and maintaining and attracting a qualified workforce.

Aarhus is addressing these challenges proactively – through The Aarhus Goals – which aim to preserve and develop the city’s spirit of cooperation, social cohesion, liveability, diversity, and sustainability by focusing on citizen involvement. To reach the City Goals innovation is required through cross-departmental collaborations, unconventional alliances, well skilled citizens, new ideas, and the use of new technologies.
